Term 4, Week 2, 23rd October 2025
Principal's Message

Dear Parents, Carers, and Members of our School Community,
I trust this message finds you well, and that your children have settled back into the routine of school life following the recent school holidays. It's hard to believe we're already into Week 2 of the final term for the year! Term 4 is always a wonderfully busy time, packed with significant events, learning opportunities, and, of course, the preparations for the end of the school year.
What a joyful and memorable day we had on Friday, celebrating our annual Grandparents Day! Thank you so much to the many grandparents and special friends who joined us for Grandparents Day.
The day flowed beautifully, allowing ample time for connection and celebration:
We started with a lovely Morning Tea, which was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to catch up and mingle.
This was followed by a moving and reflective Liturgy, where we collectively acknowledged the invaluable role grandparents play in the lives of our students.
Finally, the students were thrilled to take their guests back to their classrooms to show off their learning environment and some of the work they've been doing.
The warmth, love, and pride shared throughout the morning made it a huge success, and we deeply appreciate the time and effort everyone took to share this special day with us.
As we move forward through Term 4, please keep an eye on our school calendar for upcoming events, including graduation ceremonies, end-of-year performances, and important dates for 2026. The staff and I are committed to ensuring a smooth, engaging, and successful final term for all our students.
Your continued support and partnership are vital, and we encourage you to stay connected with your child's learning journey and school activities.
We look forward to a fantastic few months ahead!
Warm regards,
Dave
Uniforms
We have a large number of second hand uniforms available. We have an excess of girls blouses, these are brand new, however they are in the old style. If you are interested in looking at any of these, come in and have a look. If you unable to come in email the office with items and sizes you would like and we will do our best to get these for you.
LEARNING @ ST JOHN'S
Child Protection: Supporting Day for Daniel
On Friday, October 31st, our school will be participating in the annual Day for Daniel. this is Australia's largest national day of action to raise awareness for child safety and protection.
the Day for Daniel initiative, run by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, promotes three core safety messages for children and young people: Recognise, React and Report. We are pleased that this event follows on from our Term 3 learning, where we covered the Daniel Morcombe child Safety Curriculum across the whole school. Day for Daniel is a perfect opportunity to reinforce and remind all students about the importance of these safety lessons.
To show our support and raise funds for the Foundation's vital work, we encourage all students and staff to wear a touch of red, (the Day for Daniel colour) and to bring a gold coin donation on Friday, October 31st.
Thank you for helping us promote a strong culture of safety and care in our school community.
WELLBEING
Exciting New Editions to Our School Parent Library.
Below are two of four wonderful new books in our parent library from Kathy Hoopman. All of these books are updated version of the 2008 editions. They are designed to help both children and adults understand neurodiversity and how it may manifest in any given person; remembering that no two neurodiverse people are the same.
While both of these books are relatively simple and easy to read they contain a wealth of helpful information and insights for everyone! I highly recommend them to all families.
Please note you can access the parent library by speaking to Tundra or myself. The books are kept on the table in the front office, so feel free to have a look when you’re in the office sometime.
New Grief & Loss Resources for Parents from the Diocese
We know that grief and loss can be some of the most difficult experiences for children to face. To support families in having these important conversations, a series of videos and resources has been created for parents and carers.
These resources, which focus on bereavement, are now available in the Parent Resource Centre Link.
We encourage you to explore these materials and use them to support your child during times of loss. If you have any concerns about how your child is coping, please share them with us so we can work together to provide the care and support they need.
